Irresistibly Ice Cold Cat and Dog Ice Cream Treats

May 31, 2017Health & Wellness, Tips & TricksNo CommentsCathy Vu

Summer’s right around the corner! The sun’s shining bright and the weather is warm. This weather is the perfect time to enjoy a cold treat! While we may love eating ice cream and snow cones, they may not be the best options for our pets. Though, they can still enjoy ice cold treat. Check out these wonderful recipes for summer treats that will keep your cats and dogs cool in the summer heat.

Heavenly Kitty Ice Pops

Unleash your creativity when making your kitten’s ice pop! Cats tend to be picky eaters, so it’s up to you to know your cat’s favorite foods. Many recipes suggest either milk, such as Pro Bloom’s Instant Goat Milk for Pets, or water as a base for the ice pop. Some people have even used a mixture of fresh water and tuna water as well! Just pick your cat’s favorite thing to drink, and then choose a few simple ingredients to freeze along with it. You can mix it up with different proteins or even catnip for a special surprise!

After you combine the ingredients, you can freeze the treats anyway you’d like. Some suggest using Dixie Cups for larger sized ice pops. Dixie Cups allow you to easily cut away the container and serve the ice pop right onto a plate for your little kitten. Another way to freeze the ice pops is by using an ice tray. Ice trays will create smaller size portions for smaller cats. You can even fun ice trays such as fishes or pineapple shapes for aesthetically pleasing, social media-friendly pops!

Peanut Butter – Banana Puppy Pops

These doggy ice pops are both canine and human-friendly! If you’re a fan of frozen yogurt, then this is a treat fur you (pun intended)! Plus, potassium-rich bananas and protein-packed peanut butter will give your dog ample amounts of energy. These treats are amazing for a day at the dog park or beach.

The three ingredients in this recipe are bananas, yogurt, and peanut butter. The yogurt will be your base for these frozen treats, so use plenty of it. Simply mash the bananas, then combine the ingredients into a food processor and puree them together. Once the ingredients are evenly mixed, add them to an ice tray or mold and freeze until firm.
